The Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) of the Middle East Technical University (METU) consists of six Natural Science departments: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Physics and Statistics as well as four Social Science departments: History, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology. All departments of  FAS provide a high-standard undergraduate and graduate education with their curricula containing a wide range of compulsory and elective courses. The courses are designed to provide a sound theoretical and practical basis that make the FAS graduates successful candidates for positions in academia and in industry. FAS students can enroll in double major programs in the University and have an additional undergraduate diploma including Engineering and Administrative Sciences. Furthermore, they can enroll in minor programs which provide an excellent chance to improve their knowledge in other areas.
