We congratulate Prof. Dr. Melahat Bilge Demirköz, Director of ODTÜ İvmer and member of our Faculty's Physics Department, on her election to the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI established within the United Nations.
Established by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, this Panel will address the global impacts of artificial intelligence through scientific, independent, and evidence-based assessments, providing guidance to international decision-making mechanisms.
Prof. Dr. Demirköz will contribute to this global process through her work at METU IVMER in the fields of artificial intelligence and data-driven systems in space, the relationship between science, technology, and society, and ethical and human-centered technology approaches.
