Mission of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences
The mission of the METU Faculty of Arts and Sciences is to conduct high-quality education, original research, and scientific production in the fields of basic sciences, humanities, and social sciences; to support scientific thinking and an environment of academic freedom; and to contribute to the development of society through the knowledge it produces.
Our Faculty adopts an educational and research approach that develops students’ and researchers’ abilities in inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving while encouraging original thought, creativity, and interdisciplinary collaboration. It places particular importance on building a qualified academic community based on academic freedom, scientific integrity, and ethical principles.

The vision of the METU Faculty of Arts and Sciences is to become a leading, distinguished, and innovative academic center at national and international levels in the basic sciences, humanities, and social sciences; and to contribute to the advancement of knowledge through original scientific research, high-quality education, and strong academic collaborations.
Our Faculty aims to strengthen international scientific collaborations, enhance its research capacity, and educate students as individuals who can think freely, question, and make informed evaluations based on scientific knowledge. Through the knowledge it produces and the graduates it educates, our Faculty aims to contribute to the advancement of science and society.
