MAJOR TRANSFER APPLICATION QUOTAS

Major transfers are carried out within the framework of the "Regulation on the Principles of Transfer Between Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor, and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer" and the "Middle East Technical University Directive for Major Transfers to Undergraduate Programs".
Transfers are made between higher education institutions whose equivalence is recognized by the Council of Higher Education.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Quota types, application requirements within the scope of quota types, and conditions regarding ÖSYS and equivalent scores are specified in the Middle East Technical University Directive for Major Transfers to Undergraduate Programs, which can be accessed at the web address below.
In addition to the conditions specified in the directive, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences uses the following criteria as a measure in the ranking.
For candidates applying to Faculty of Arts and Sciences programs;
The ratio of the candidate's placement score (ÖSS/LYS/YKS) for the year they entered the University to the general quota base score of the program they are applying to for that year must not be lower than 0.950.
Important Notice: Applications of candidates who do not meet the conditions specified above are rejected by the relevant faculty due to academic insufficiency.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Major transfer applications will be made via the MAJOR TRANSFER APPLICATIONS title at the web address https://application.metu.edu.tr/. METU students log in to the application system with their user codes and passwords.
Students will mark their preferences (indicating the order of preference) from among the programs listed on the screen. Preferences can be made for a maximum of 3 departments.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Students Applying from Within METU
- METU students will not submit any documents (transcript, etc.) to the Registrar's Office for application.
- Document stating that no disciplinary action has been taken (will be added by the Registrar's Office).
Students Applying from Northern Cyprus Campus
- Transcript: An official document showing all courses taken by the student from the institution they are registered in, the grades received from these courses, and the cumulative grade point average. Photocopies are not accepted.
- Student Certificate
- Document stating that no disciplinary action has been taken
- ÖSYS or equivalent exam result document: The exam result document submitted by the student for admission to their university (DGS, YKS, GCE, SAT, ABITUR... with the conditions specified in the relevant regulation for TR/TRNC national students who studied abroad).
- Photocopy of University Catalog: Certified photocopy of the pages in the university catalog showing the curriculum and course contents of the department the student is registered in and the classes the student has completed.
- Photocopy of National ID Card / Photocopy of Passport
PRELIMINARY EVALUATION AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS
Phase I: Preliminary Evaluation
Preliminary evaluation is carried out regarding whether the candidates meet the application conditions specified in the regulation. Applications of candidates who meet the regulation conditions are forwarded to the relevant academic units for evaluation. Applications of candidates who do not meet the application conditions result in “rejection at the application stage”.
As a result of the preliminary evaluation, information is sent via e-mail to those whose applications are rejected at the application stage.
Phase II: Evaluation
Acceptance/rejection results of candidates who meet the application conditions specified in the regulation and whose applications are evaluated by the relevant academic units will be announced via the MAJOR TRANSFER APPLICATIONS program at the web address https://application.metu.edu.tr/.
ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES (INTIBAK)
In intra-METU major transfers, courses and grades taken by students in their previous programs are included in the grade point averages (excluding courses counted as extra-curricular) and transcripts of the students in their new programs. Equivalency procedures (adjustment) are performed for courses taken with different codes.
MAXIMUM PERIOD
The time spent by students who change institutions/departments via major transfer in their previous institutions/programs is included in the maximum education period calculation.
